New public spaces on a prime site within a conservation area
Currently occupied by a tyre manufacturer, this prime 4-acre site adjacent to the Jewellery Quarter’s train station and tram stop, Hockley Mills represents a major £120m PRS mixed-use development. Accommodation comprises 393 apartments and townhouse residences with landscaped courtyards, while commercial space includes 70,000 ft2 of offices, retail units and workshops intended for jewellery design and manufacture. The result of a close 2 year working relationship with Birmingham City Council, we’re expecting a planning decision in 2018, with work beginning onsite in 2019. A phased approach will ultimately see the creation of eight highly distinct buildings, each reflecting the unique heritage and architecture of the Jewellery Quarter.
